June 26, 2009, Newsletter Issue #46: Yoga Can Counteract Effects of Aging

Tip of the Week

Yoga and other forms of exercise can not only improve your physical health, but they can also improve your mental health and counteract the effects of aging. Yoga, for example, is meant to cleanse the body of toxins. Doing this strengthens your immune system, allowing your body to fight off disease more efficiently.

The best yoga videos you find online will all have one thing in common. That one thing is a focus on cleansing of the mind and body. The meditation involved in yoga can reduce stress, keeping your blood pressure from getting too high and maintaining a healthy heart. So exercise is directly related to both physical and mental health.

It will increase blood flow, getting a better supply of blood and oxygen to your brain and other organs, and makes you feel better about yourself at the same time. People who exercise, whether it is yoga or some other form, tend to live a healthier and more comfortable life than those who do not.  By staying in better shape and mental health they feel and show the effects aging far less.

You do not have to be a body builder or want to be one to exercise and keep you mind and body healthy.
