There are two types of Diabetes: Types 1 and 2. Type 1 used to be referred to as juvenile onset because it was believed only children developed it. We have since learned that this is not the case.
The basic description of Type 1 is that the blood sugar levels are too high but your body cannot use the sugar in your blood due to antibodies present. People with Type 1 require insulin injections for the rest of their lives.
Type 2 is more common today. This was thought to be found only in adults for a long time. Type 2 is so common now that it is becoming more and more of an epidemic every day. People largely at risk for this type are those with family histories of Diabetes. It can also be developed as you gain too much weight, specifically “central fat.” This is when the weight you gain is focused in your center (stomach) and builds around your liver and pancreas.
Healthy diet and exercise are extremely important in combating the growing epidemic of Diabetes. Not everyone who is overweight is going to get Diabetes, but there is a growing trend of obese people developing the disease.
Diabetes videos online can explain many of the issues associated with this illness, including prevention, detection and how to safely exercise with Diabetes.
