Do you regularly do breast self-examinations?

Breast Self-Examinations

Unfortunately, breast cancer seems to be more and more common these days. Since the best way to beat cancer is by catching it as early as possible, you do not want to wait until your yearly checkup to look for signs of cancer.

Make it part of your daily routine to do a breast self-examination at home. Do it in the morning when you are getting dressed or showering before work. Any time that works for you as long as you do it regularly. The odds of beating cancer are much better if you find something and call your doctor instead of waiting another six months for an appointment.

Pay attention to the normal size and shape of your breasts. The more regularly you examine yourself, the more a change will stand out. Skin rashes, discoloration, swelling, abnormal discharge are all things to look out for.

Some hardening or swelling can result regularly during and around menstruation, so do not be alarmed if you notice something. Make an appointment as soon as possible with your doctor and let he or she determine what it is. The point is to not panic, but to be prudent.

Look online for breast cancer videos that show you how to perform a breast self-examination properly.
